BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer) goes EMAF (European Media Arts Festival) 2014.
Im Rahmen des EMAF 2014 wird die Aktion BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer) stattfinden. BYOB ist eine weltweite Veranstaltungsreihe – wenn nicht Bewegung – die von dem niederländischen Medienkünstler Rafaël Rozendaal zuerst in Berlin initiiert wurde. BYOB Osnabrück wird organisiert von Yochanan Rauert (7dex, visual society) in Zusammenarbeit mit dem European Media Arts Festival (EMAF).
Die ursprüngliche Idee hinter dem BYOB ist einfach und läßt sich mit einem Haiku fassen:
find a space
invite many artists
ask them to bring their projector
finde einen Ort
lade Künstler ein
bitte sie, ihre Beamer mitzubringen
Künstler, Filmemacher und Familienmitglieder mit einem Beamer sind eingeladen, vorbeizukommen und ihre Projektionskunst zu zeigen. Bei gutem Wetter auch draussen! Das Ganze findet am Freitag, den 25.4. von ca. 18-0 Uhr statt.
Niedersachsens erstes BYOB-Event im Spitzboden des Lagerhalle e.V. Osnabrück! Was auch immer passiert, wird sind da und haben auch noch ein bis zwei freie Steckdosen für euch!

WE, THE ENEMY
30 Jahre nach „1984“ stehen wir alle unter ständiger Beobachtung: per Überwachungskamera, durch zentrales Monitoring aller elektronischen Geräte und durch das Abschöpfen der gesamten Kommunikation. Was in der Dystopie von George Orwell aus dem Jahr 1949 noch wie eine tumbe Überwachungsdiktatur gestaltet wurde, hat sich um ein Vielfaches smarter und subtiler in unseren Alltag eingeschlichen. Die Disziplinar-Gesellschaft wird zur Gesellschaft der (Selbst-) Kontrolle, die auf eine optimierte Bewirtschaftung der Menschen, der Körper und des Wissens zielt und dabei nicht nur sicher geglaubte Grundrechte verletzt.
In der Ausstellung, in Performances, begleitenden Filmprogrammen und Talks wird reflektiert, wie wir zu allseitig überwachten „Feinden“ wurden, und wie die aktuelle internationale Kunstszene darauf antwortet.
BYOB ist eine Verherrlichung der Neuen Welt in der wir leben und ein Vorausgriff auf die Rezeption der Kunst der Zukunft. Heute ist das Internet noch auf Bildschirme begrenzt. Im Morgen sind wir von Information umgeben, sie entwirft unsere Oberflächen, definiert unsere Raume und verwebt sich mit dem Äther. Ein bewegtes Bild ist nie ein wirklich fassbares Objekt – und wenn es mit den Möglichkeiten tragbarer Projektoren ausgestattet ist, erweitert sich schnell das Reich der Erfahrungen.

Life under suspicion – 30 years after „1984“, all of us are under constant observation: achieved via CCTV, by centrally monitoring all electronic devices and by tapping into our entire communication. Orwell’s creation of a naive surveillance dictatorship in his dystopia from 1949 has crept into our everyday lives in a considerably smarter, subtler way. Disciplinary society is changing into a society of (self-)control that seeks to achieve the optimised management of human beings, the body and knowledge and meanwhile does not only violate fundamental rights that formerly seemed to be assured.
The exhibition, performances, accompanying film programmes and talks will reflect upon how we became „enemies“, observed from all sides, and how the contemporary international art scene responds to this phenomenon.
BYOB is a celebration of the new world we live in and a glimpse of what computing could look like in the future. Today the internet is confined to screens. Tomorrow information will surround us, composing our surfaces, defining our spaces, enmeshing itself with the ether. A moving image is never an object, and when it is coupled with the increased flexibility of portable projection, the realm of experience quickly expands.

BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer) goes EMAF (European Media Arts Festival) 2014.
The first BOYB of Lower Saxony will take place during EMAF in Osnabrück, Germany. Artists, filmmakers and moving image enthusiasts are invited to screen their works at Lagerhalle e.V. in the Old Town of Osnabrück. If the weather is good, we will try to project and do some guerilla mapping outdoors onto the ancient city wall.

We will have a limited amount of beamers that can be booked on the night. Please get in contact if you need one via the facebook event or info@visual-society.com.
